To be honest, you can find nice homes in the suburbs for 100k in this area with good schools too.
Here's a nice area that my sister and I call "black suburbia" around here, eventhough it is in the city of Syracuse: syracuse, ny - Google Maps

It is called the Salt Springs neighborhood.

Can I ask you a question, how do you get it so that when you click the link the street view automatically pops up?

I'll put it this way, you can buy a decent starter home for 80k in a good school district around here. Maybe even as low as 70k. With a decent backyard and everything.

I stand corrected... apparently $100,000 would buy you this:

906 90TH Ave, Oakland, CA 94603 | MLS# 40467812

$100,000 for 1,000 square feet... not a bad deal. lol

That's rediculous. Seriously. In Gary they got houses selling for $6,000 for obvious reasons but you could actually buy a decent house in a good neighborhood for under 100 K? Madness

When you are on google maps, just enter the city, street, etc. and click on the A tab, then click on streetview on the big popup bubble. If want a general area/neighborhood, it will sometimes put the tab in the center of that area. If you know the street, that's even better.
