It would be interesting to see. I honestly can't imagine even 20% of the most ardent DC homers arguing that NYC is NOT the "principal" East Coast city.

LOL

Who said anything about being 'more' influential than LA. The point is, there are plenty of ways influence people and there are plenty of ways that LA is NOT the most influential on the West Coast.

Furthermore, the comment you made about California being 'world famous' because of LA is preposterous(and factually incorrect), and totally laughable.

Economically New York dominates the Northeast much more than LA dominates the West, or even just the West Coast.

New York Metro Region GDP $1.460 Trillion represents 48.8% of the Northeastern Economy

Los Angeles Metro Region GDP $881.2 Billion represents 24.8% of the Western Economy

Even if its just CA/OR/WA, LAs $881.2 Billion GDP represents 35.8% of the West Coast economy.

Not realistically. LA may be the 800-lb gorrilla in the room out west, but new york is the 1-ton gorrilla in the room in the Northeast.

LOL.

Yea I agree the influence that NYC has on the eastcoast is much more prominent than LA on the west, I would go as far as saying that LA's umbrella mostly consists of SoCal/Phoenix/Las Vegas

Thankfully Seattle is not the principal city on the West Coast. That is what makes it great.

Seattle is a very nice and important city (especially in the tech industry), but I wonder how could anyone vote for it over the other two cities?

I've lived in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Seattle. L.A. wins this question hands down, in L.A. you feel like you're a city always in the news you don't really feel that way in SF or Seattle. And when you're thinking tech industry you're thinking Silicon Valley which isn't in SF.

If Silicon Valley/San Jose is included with San Fracisco then I would say San Francisco easily. All those Fortune 500 countries speak for themselves.

Yeah, LA has more people, but an extremely large percentage of those people are uneducated foriegn migrants.

And that map posted above is not fair. Maryland, DC and Deleware should be in the Northeast category. How the hell is Delaware the South?

Why is a large working class a bad thing? East Coast cities brag about their working class Irish, Italian, Eastern European migrants that had no education and 'made it'. Why is it bad that in LA they have brown skin and are getting started now? (of course the Bay area has a large population of uneducated foreign migrants too)

I agree with above.
