The area I was referring to is near neighborhoods such as Fishtown, Northern Liberties, Port Richmond and Bridesburg or "the River Wards", a mostly working class Polish/Irish and Puerto Rican section of the city. Recently Northern Liberties and Fishtown have gentrified and there are further plans including condos (including a Trump Tower) and a new Casino.
My old school was ghetto, we went to a buffet there lol. Condos an a new Casino, sound nice, it'd be good for the area.

US 441 and SR 80 run right through Belle Glade. US 27 runs right through South Bay just a few miles west of Belle Glade. All major highways.

Belle Glade looks like a bunch of random strip motels as residential units

One place I haven't seen people here mention is Kansas City. It's not worse than some of the big ones noted here, but definitely one of the worst I have ever seen. Taking I-29 south into downtown KC just looks nasty, and then taking I-70 from downtown to the east for quite a few miles is just nasty ghetto- houses that literally look like they are falling down, block after block after block of them.

So true. Strip Motels built in the 60's and 70's at that.

West & East Oakland (by Lake Meritt) are competitors

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Oaklan...49.65,,0,-0.93

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...267.17,,0,4.27

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...189.8,,0,12.78

And they're easily some of the most dangerous in the whole country. Hoover Foster aka "Ghost Town" in West Oakland is visually some of the worst **** you'll see on the west coast.

North Richmond is probably the most screwed up part of the bay area (which by extension makes it the most screwed up part of CA and one of the most screwed up parts of the country). even though it looks "suburban" its easily one of the worst looking places in the bay. Note that google maps doesn't do it "justice"
