What metroploitan area do you think has the best Shopping? (available options, scenery, etc)

My obvious vote goes for NY Metro with LA probably at a close second.

Agreed San Francisco/Miami/Chicago seem to have solid variety as well

This would be tough. Mainly because I don't give a sh*t about shopping, but in the spirit of the Chicago - White Plains thread, I gotta say Chicago. Lots of 7-11s/feed stores/agricultural implement warehouses/farm co-ops and thensuch. I'd say 1. Chicago, 2. White Plains, 3. New York (though almost tied with White Plains-- one Tuffy Muffler outlet away from #2), 4. Los Angeles.

NYC, not just because of all the stores but also all the people and vendors selling wares that fell off the truck.

Heres a guy selling Zenga and Armani suits at Union Square for $20.

If Chicago has a wholesale/garment district like NY and LA than I agree. Otherwise, sorry. Its just not the same.

For example, I'm going to Downtown Los Angeles tomorrow morning to do some major shopping for our family reunion next week. We're buying everything from tall skinny vases for centerpieces to fabric to plates to drinking glasses to tiki torches to volleyball nets to DJ equipment etc.

All at about 10% of what it would cost me anywhere else BUT NYC.

I think that's what separates NY and LA from everywhere else. You can get literally anything at the cheapest price possible short of smuggling it in from China-LOL
