Did anyone attempt to define "ghetto?"

Is this about poverty, crime, race?

I guess the OP isn't here anymore to specify.

Ghetto is pretty self descriptive. If you can't tell the difference well, can't help you.

poverty, crime and a place that looks like you're in a ghetto!

Here let me help you.

Thanks a lot, Forrest.

Place that looks like you're in a "ghetto," is too subjective.

So I take it we're discussing only crime and poverty, ignoring ethnicities?

Guess it's not clear to me either, Joe. The OP's picture above looks like lots of small towns I've driven through. Crime and poverty rates ought to be pretty easy to find, if that's what he's trying to figure out.

I thought these topics were cool, The first 100 times I saw them, not it's just meh. Why is there multiple new "ghetto" threads in this forum every single week?

that one guy is right. there actually really is quite a big difference between 'looking' ghetto and 'being' ghetto.

There's pretty much 3 different types of ghettos in America:

1) Enormous project buildings
2) Large, old, and decaying multi-family homes
3) Tiny single family shotgun style homes (or something similar)

Whatever the 'ghetto' housing stock looks like where you live, is probably going to be the type you deem most ghetto looking.
