Which is better, apples or oranges? These two cities are very different. Jersey City is suburban New York City, a huge megalopolis. New Orleans is a much smaller metro area.

I'd have to go with Jersey on this one. It's close to NYC which gives it a huge advantage. Again, New Orleans is just plain hot for a good portion of the year. I went there over the holidays and fell in love with it all over again, but I remember New Orleans in July----hot!!!!!

Jersey City

Excellent views of Manhattan, the Upper Bay and the Statue of Liberty. Good transportation links, downtown is being built up - this is a town with a future. Liberty State park right on the bay plus the beginings of the Palisades cliffs. Lacks New Orlean's charm and colonial history/architecture but JC being above sea level helps to even that out!

Jersey City. Its close proximity to NYC is hard to beat.

i think new orleans is more of a fun place. if you take away the fact that jersey city is so close to NYC and look at what there really is to do there, new orleans would win by a long shot.
