I mean I'll let a Cincinnati resident tell me if Over-the-Rhine, which is a tourist neighborhood, has regular murders or not. I don't view Cincinnati as being a "failed" city at all overall. We've always enjoyed our visits there. I love Skyline Chili and Jungle Jim's and their public market. I just wish I knew why it has so much crime. Maybe they need a tax increase to expand their police force?
OTR used to be one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the country. It is like day and night compared to amount of crime today. I don’t know statistics but from keeping up with the news I would say that OTR in a bad year has maybe 4-5 murders, with a lot of these occurring in the “non gentrified” portion of OTR.
Most of these murders today are occurring in places that have a history of crime (Avondale, Price Hill). 4 of the current murders were from one guy who had a issue with one of the victims, and most if not all have been drug or domestic dispute related, not a random act.

Denver has had more homicides than Albuquerque so far at 25, which the last several years has been rare.
Albuquerque would be an incredible city and was an incredible place until about 2016 when it seems like seemingly with in a year or two crime skyrocketed.
I have noticed that many cities in the inter-mountain West like Phoenix, Denver, Albuquerque tend to vary alot more than other cities across the country.
Denver, Phoenix, Las Vegas tend to go from high rates to low rates over the decades which is different than other parts of the country where the crime doesn't vary as much from decade to decade like Albuquerque.
I wonder if the crime spike from 2014 to 2017 in Albuquerque was one of the steepest a city has ever recorded.
What is odd is how Albuquerque historically didn't have a high homicide rate until about 2016. In fact, for several years it had one of the lowest homicide rates for a city of it's size then the numbers just skyrocketed quickly.
Seems like the crime skyrocketed overnight and many categories nearly tripled in a very short time.
Odd, how Albuquerque went from having one of the lower homicides rates for a city of it's size to skyrocketing in the course of just a couple of years.
I went to Albuquerque about 11 years ago and it was a very clean city and I felt very safe at Menaul and University.
Last year, I went back and the entire culture had changed. The streets in denser areas were littered with needles and I didn't feel comfortable walking down the street in tennis shoes. Encampments were in shopping centers. Many stores close very, very early in Albuquerque.
Quite honestly, last year walking down the street in Albuerque when I was there last time was one of the uneasiness experiences of my life in a city. The complete oposite of a decade ago, when I was thought it was very clean and I felt very safe.
