Reason: Please keep this to just North American cities
Boston has alot of Historical influence that many foreigners hear about when learning some american history so some express interest. Also Boston is a big banking capital of north america and probably gets many foreign businessmen. Not to mention people visiting the Universities in the area on college visits or the visit a child that is attend one currently. It's definitely not Miami or LA, but it does get tourists for one reason or another! Cool city aswell!
No offense to Boston, but why would someone in another country really want to visit Boston?
I'd rather visit Boston than Vancouver, Toronto, Los Angeles and Miami on that list. Boston exudes history and charm. Tourists have different interests. A vacation in Miami will be much different than NYC than Montreal, etc.

I suspect that Vancouver moving up the scale when it comes to spend has to do with all the money that comes to Vancouver from Asia.

Kind of. Toronto is more interesting than Boston. But agree on Los Angeles and Vancouver. Miami's a different type of destination, so not sure what to say there.
I think Boston is a good "one time" destination. Go there, see some history and unique NE culture-- but it's not a two- visit town, at least for me. I've been there a few times and do not need to go back.
Personally, Boston has never been on my radar. Anybody that I have ever known to go to Boston was work related. Thus, the reason I was surprised to see it ranked so high on this list.
