I've been looking around on this site, and I am trying to decide between the two where to move.
I am in my mid 20's single, and money is not an option and I love both of these cities very much.
I have looked at similar threads all of which are inconclusive, so maybe ill get an answer here.
Miami Beach Pros
---------
Sports Teams
Amazing Beaches
Amazing nightlife/daylife
Great food
Great Shopping
Great Downtown
Beautiful International Women
International feel
More urban (East coast feel)
Boating/Yachts Parties
EDM / Hip Hop Scene is a +
Exotic
Miami Beach Cons
--------
Humid
Flat
Difficult to make friends(?)
Clubs are very difficult and EXPENSIVE to get into
People are too foreign and don't speak english
Hurricanes
Lots of ghetto people
Lack of space
Horrible Traffic
Vegas Pros
--------
Unlimited Entertainment
Includes but not limited to : Gambling, Clubs, Shows, Awesome pool parties
Clubs aren't as difficult to get into nor as expensive
There is mountains and great scenery, including lakes and various other outdoor activities
Not too far of a drive to LA/SD/Phx/Lake Tahoe/Lake Havusu
No Hurricanes/Earthquakes/Tornados etc.
Great suburbs/Parks/Recreation
West coast feel
No Humidity
Great Shopping
Seems easier to make friends with locals
Great EDM Scene
Vegas Cons
---------
No Beach
Not as cultural as Miami
No Pro Sports
Car centric ( can be a good thing)
Can get very hot in summers
Can be too desert / brown for some.
Right now I am leaning toward Vegas, but Miami has always been my first love. But IMO Vegas offers EVERYTHING Miami offers except for pro sports and beaches.. I love the exotic / international feel of Miami, but will that get old fast? I like how Vegas has world class casinos/restaurants/concerts etc..
Vegas seems like somewhere I want to live in the long term( they do have some beautiful suburbs), I don't know if I could see Miami in long term but I am thinking as of NOW.
Anybody familiar with the two? If you don't like either of the two, don't waste time here please.
If I had a buddy with a condo in South Beach, and another in Las Vegas I would visit the one in South Beach. Figure this, the casinos in Las Vegas are more tourist oriented anyway. Do you really think after living in Las Vegas for a year that you would still hit up the strip every weekend? I assume most residents of Las Vegas haven't been to the strip in months. I'd assume the beach scene is less likely to get old since there are so many restuarants, night-life, shopping, and people-watching within a short walk of the ocean. Las Vegas, is more like an insular island surrounded by miles of nothing. Living on Miami Beach you could easily drive to the keys, Ft. Lauderdale, W. Palm Beach, and of course Miami proper.

I like this post, especially the bit about the strip getting tired after a while. I have a condo in Vegas and I go down there maybe once a month for a day or two and it doesn't get tired because I don't live there full time so I feel like I need to do the Vegas thing when I'm there. One thing about Vegas for me is that I usually go with a group of people(relatives, friends, business associates, etc) and we always have a BLAST going to shows, eating, club hopping, shoppinggambling, spas, wandering the strip, people watching etc....but if I actually lived there full time, I probably might get bored. I did stay there for an extended stay in the past and didn't get bored but you never know.
That said, I think I'd still pick Vegas over Miami Beach...more my taste.

But you can say the same thing about Miami Beach : "Do you really think after living in Miami for a year that you would still hit up the beach every weekend?" I know lots of residents of Miami hardly ever go to the beach, so it is really just a matter of choice for the person. It's the fact that you have the OPTION of hitting up the strip, same way you have the option of hitting up the beach. It is the residents choice to not want to take advantage of all of what the city has to offer. You can really say that about anywhere, Times Square, or anywhere it's not just the strip, there is an unlimited amount of things to take advantage of if you utilize it, if you don't that's not the cities fault. People also seem to think that Vegas is nothing more than casinos and that's it. Vegas offers so much more than casinos if people only took the time to learn and explore the city. Same way Miami offers a lot too it's not just clubs and beaches, it offers a lot of variety as well.

This is a great point as well.
A person can get 'tired' of anywhere.
