i say place raliegh, austin, charlotte, seattle, st. louis, charleston, nashville, and knoxville in one big bag, shake w/out stirring, pour, and see who is better. everyone, who keeps up with the growth knows that raliegh-durham wins hands down. nashville/branson would tie as cowboy, country, and gospel entertainment and recording, but otherwise, it is out, charleston gets it on antiques, culture, cuisine, austin of live music for quirky people, and knoxville for obnoxious vols athletic supporters, and charlotte working on becoming the step wall street of the us. now, everone has something to call their own, but the growth numbers mentioned at the first of the thread is really more like a real boom---and i like wake forrest.

Not the end all or the ultimate authority on the subject of 'best', but an interesting ranking nonetheless.
I haven't read the thread yet, but I'm going to guess that since NYC, Portland, and Seattle aren't in the top-10 (while Virginia Beach is) this list will be mostly hated. Still sounds like a reasonable set of parameters and all.

And yet you can't spell it. It's Wake Forest.
You're way off, as always, about Nashville and Knoxville, too.
