Houston-13. Pretty impressive for Houston so far. I don't know what they had at time last year.

If you've reported a car burglary this year, there's about an 8 percent chance Dallas police did not trust your report. You can find out online whether your crime report was counted. Give it a try, and please let us know what you find by commenting below. Here's how:
Step 1: Go to the Dallas police public access site.
Step 2: Type in your name and a date range to pull up your police report.
Step 3: Look in the upper right corner at the UCR CODE (in some cases it's in the upper left corner).

Here's what to look for:
- If you see 06945 or a similar number, like 06943, your crime report was counted.
- It's the number 26000 that you have to watch out for. It means that, at least initially, your account was not trusted. These reports are called "investigation of" reports, and you'll see that in the OFFENSE DESCRIPTION field: "investigation of burglary of motor vehicle" or maybe something shorter, like "inv of bmv."
- But even if your report started out as an "investigation of," it may have been reclassified since then. If so, to the right of the 26000 you'll see that other number, like 06945.
- If all you see in the UCR CODE field is the number 26000, your crime report was not counted.

- While these instructions are for car burglaries, it works pretty much the same for other types of crimes. If all you see is the number 26000, your crime report wasn't counted.
- Each different crime category has a different UCR code. The FBI uses UCR codes to collect crime statistics from throughout the country.

Atlanta is at 8 now to my knowledge. This year was off a bad start, but January ended up having 7 which is closer to normal, most of them being within the first week.

El Paso -06

Quote:
The murder at the Northeast El Paso Chevron is the sixth murder of 2011 in El Paso, compared to just one murder at the same time last year and five murders in all of 2010.

El Paso police said there is no common denominator between the six homicides in El Paso so far this year, and a spokesman for the department said the first four weeks of 2011 does not necessarily dictate how the rest of the year will go.
