This question must sound silly and it certainly isn't all that important. But I am curious, even in summer, if wearing flip flops\ sandals or other beach footwear is common in certain cities? On another thread a comment from a poster who lives near NYC caught my attention when the person said they look Californian because they wear flip flops.

In Los Angeles flip flops are routine footwear pretty much all year long but not in San Francisco. In Miami flip flops are extremely common even away from the beach. During summer do people wear flip flops in other major U.S. cities? It gets hot in New York, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, Houston, etc. so do you see people wearing flip flops a lot?

People where flip flops here in Chicago. I wear flip flops here in Chicago. We've got beaches though so that helps.

I've seen people wear flip flops in San Antonio even when it's cold. But yeah, just about any Texas city wears them. I've even seen people in Ohio and NYC wear them. Basically every big city I've ever been to I've seen lots of people wear them.

NYC reporting flip-flops everywhere during the summer. But I don't get it as we walk so much and flip-flops provide little support or protection from the nasty streets.

I see people wearing flip-flops year-round in Dallas. Many times at places I don't necessarily think flip-flops are really appropriate.

Lol I said half of the time I dress like a stereotypical Californian (kinda beachy sometimes) plus I like to wear flip flops. NYC is a flip flop city too.
