I'm sorry, "Hoosier", but which of us "Buckeyes" are you referring to? None of us have said anything remotely bad about SE Indiana. We've only stated the truth about the length of the commute from there to Cincinnati, depending on where the OP's job would be. Other than that, we've all supported the OP's decision to move there. Personally, I like Indiana.

I like Indiana too. I like the little towns that have a small town feel like Batesville and Vevay. I think I could live in Vevay.

See that is where you "Buckeyes" get me. Saying Indiana is a far drive. Yea getting to the East side would be a pain. But any other part of the city is usually a 45 min drive. Which isn't a terrible commute. Unless there is a bad accident. And saying Batesville is a small town. To us Batesville is a big town. Bright and Logan are small. I doubt unless you have been out here, you have even heard of the either.

To get back on topic. If you want closeness to Cincy, go for Greendale. Its right on two major highways (50&275). Don't worry about Segrams in a couple of hours the smell goes away and you get used to it

Gee, did I say I liked Indiana?

Batesville is a small town. Its a compliment to even call it a town. Its smaller than Mt. Healthy and Mt. Healthy isn't really even a town, much less a small town. Wide spots in the road with a gas station do not count as towns.

I have family in Indiana. I go there all the time. It takes 40 minutes to get to St. Leon.

To most people, a 45-minute commute is excessive.

45 minutes is quite a commute. And rush hour in Cincy is not always fun, so turn that 45 minutes into possibly 1 hour and 30 minutes... or even more.

Actually, if OP lands a job in Florence, KY, his commute would only be about 20 minutes from Lawrenceburg or Greendale. That's a doable commute.

Actually a very reasonable commute. but the whole airport area out as far as Florence is in deep distress because of the coincidence of Delta abandoning CVG at the same time as the overall economic downturn.

But the OP has a great plan because he will save a small fortune at IU as an in-state student (12 month residency requirement). Good plan OP.

Lawrenceburg or Greendale would be my suggestions as well. Rush hour traffic on Hwy 50 is bumper to bumper. Just a observation when I was in that area.

Default the "aroma"

The "aroma" in Greendale and Lawrenceburg is not unpleasant. My sisters and I have been visiting Lawrenceburg (my mom's family) for literally as long as we can remember and we've always liked the smell from Seagram's, errrr, Lawrenceburg Distillers.
