just checking to see if anyone on this forum owns a dodge charger srt8 2012 and up with the 6.4 liter engine, 470 hp and 470 lb-ft. the gas mileage sucks and you have to pay a gas guzzler tax when bought new. performance wise I have read a lot of good reviews for such s big car and it holds its own with the mustang gt and Camaro ss . please share your info, thoughts, or experience . I like this car but they are expensive new, I wouldn't want to put that much money in it. but I can see myself in a used one a few years down the road.

4400 pounds and a five speed auto guarantee poor mileage. 470 HP doesn't help. If it had a 6 speed manual it might do better. My GTO beat the guzzler tax that way. But I doubt it would help that much, given the bulk and HP.

People that buy nearly 500 HP aren't usually concerned about MPG.

yeah that 5 speed tranny is a major let down for all that power. I believe Chrysler/dodge are the last auto maker to still be using 5 speed

EDIT: Oops, I not sure why I thought you said Challenger. Need more coffee.

You can get a used '12 Charger SRT8 for under $40K and under 15k miles, fully loaded. Bargain in my books. Only other thing that competes for the price is a CTS-V but you need to go down to a 2009/2010 CTS-V with over 50k miles to get in the same price ball park. I'd personally go for a 300 SRT8, as the interior is more upscale.

If I didn't live where it snows 8 months out of the year, I'd buy myself a '12 Charger/300C SRT8. Love 'em.

That's not a Charger. A Charger is a 2 door made in the late 60's.

That 4 door grocery getter, soccer practice delivery almost a mini van piece of unibody garbage is not a Charger.

I had a '68 Charger and every time I see that thing with the Charger name on it it offends me.

That new Challenger I think is awesome, as good as the originals or better. That 4 door overreved thing they are calling the Charger should have been the Polara or Monaco. That would have made sense to me.

So have I, and for the most part I agree. If you're going to go retro, the number of doors should be the same, at least.

Quite honestly, no one cares for your opinion. The current Charger is a Charger because that's the name Chrysler put on it. This is a fact. Chasing dreams from yesteryear is great and all but lets get with the times. Today's Charger is a four door and if you don't like it you can buy another car. The great thing about this country is that anyone can select a product of their choice and that applies to you as well as anyone who wants a four door Charger.

all I know is every time I see a Charger SRT/8 I wish I would have bought it instead of my SHO.

Either a 300 SRT/8 or Charger SRT/8 will be the next thing living in my driveway.
