I've been having trouble starting my '95 Wrangler several weeks now. When this first started I'd turn the key, it would crank like it wanted to start but wouldn't run until I'd tried a couple times. It's getting worse, cranking - turning the key off, back on - cranking until I nearly run the battery dead. I live on a remote island, no mechanic, so I'll have to send it on the ferry to Ketchikan. I notice the little shifter arrow light comes on when it will finally start - won't start if it doesn't. This leads me to think maybe an electrical connection involving fuel is the problem? After the inital struggle getting it started in the mornings it starts first time all day while I"m running errands but if it sits several hours in between I have the same problem.
I could sure use and would appreciate some advice. This is all more than I can afford so if I can talk to the mechanic in Ketchikan like I'm not as ignorant as I really am maybe it'd save a buck or two.
Thanks if you can help!

I'm sorry to tell you this, but that era of Jeeps were so problematic that this could one (or more) of any number of about 25 problems. If you are mechanically inclined (or at least interested), you can do some simple things, like listen for the fuel pump when you turn on the ignition. It might be something simple like the fuel pump relay.
On the other hand, as I said before, Jeeps of that era had/have a LOT of problems. You should probably ferry it over to a mechanic's shop.
I had a similar problem before that was a failed check valve in the fuel pump.
Try cycling the key a couple times to let the system prime before cranking.
