"I prefer a Church which is bruised, hurting and dirty because it has been out on the streets, rather than a Church which is unhealthy from being confined and from clinging to its own security," the Pope said in a major new statement.
"I do not want a Church concerned with being at the center and then ends by being caught up in a web of obsessions and procedures," Francis added.
Sounds like he's rolling up his sleeves and preparing to clean house.
What changes would Catholics/Christians like to see?
First of all, this concerns Catholics, not other christian religions. Secondly, you forgot to add in your little summary that he was clear that abortion and women priests will still be no-nos.
Regardless of what some may wish for, this pope will not be changing church doctrine.

You think other Christian denominations aren't interested or affected by the Pope's pronouncements? I think when a pope rattles the cage like this, all of Christianity pays some attention.
And "my little summary" was followed by a link to the entire piece. Maybe he won't be changing church doctrine - but he's making it easier for the next guy to do so. (Or, Creator forbid - gal!)

Church doctrine isn't going to change. Even if the Pope wanted to (and he doesn't), he doesn't have the authority to do so. Church organization and outreach might well be changing.
Read reactions and analysis of Evangelii gaudium and you will quickly see that the catholic Left’s take on the Apostolic Exhortation inexorably veers into “Isn’t it great that the Pope hates traditionalists? He’s one of us!”
Heh heh. Not so much.
The catholic Left has nearly completely accepted that their flagship issue has been torpedoed.
While Church doctrine isn't going to change the way we understand it can be change as the Holy Spirit draws us into a deeper understanding of our faith.
John XXIII on his deathbed said: “It is not that the gospel has changed; it is that we have begun to understand it better. Those who have lived as long as I have…were enabled to compare different cultures and traditions, and know that the moment has come to discern the signs of the times, to seize the opportunity and to look far ahead.”
He also said the Church was not meant to be a museum piece.
"The catholic Left has nearly completely accepted that their flagship issue has been torpedoed."
Wishful thinking and a poor attempt to do damage control by the neo-con right wing of the Church.
What the pope has accomplished so far is amazing, he has stop the Church's slide back into the dark ages and has actually charted a course forward and at the same time a return to its roots.
The next big change I would like to see is the nullification of the "Just War Theory" Frances has made some strong statements on war and peace but so have the past popes, these statements usually fall on deaf ears or get twisted.
It needs to be said from the Chair of Peter in some kind of Bull or Encyclical in straight forward language that can't be misinterpreted or spun by the likes of our warmongering bishops and their followers.
There should be no more ROTC on Catholic College and University campuses.
Nor should there be any Catholic chaplains in the military.
