... such as yesterday when I pulled into the parking lot behind a local pizza joint, and sitting in the corner of the lot, on a tree stump, was some old dude folding pants. No, that's not a metaphor -- he was literally sitting there, folding pairs of pants. He was pulling pairs of pants out of a plastic grocery bag and then folding them. I think I was too busy trying to make sense of what I was seeing to notice what he was doing with them after he was folding them.

So what are some of your ??? " moments while plying the streets, sidewalks and alleyways of our fine little hamlet?

When I first moved to Chicago proper to attend UC, I remember walking around with friends. We would always pass this one woman on a tiny side street. She was older, dressed not so well, but she lived in one of the nearby apartments. She was usually packing cracks in the sidewalk or road with cat litter, and when I asked her she said, "Oh deary, it helps patch the road up until they can fix it properly".

I was like "Oh, that makes sense".

Years later I was sitting in a boardroom thousands of miles away when it suddenly occurred to me how crazy that was. Out of the blue it struck me; that was so utterly out of line with reality. I was like "It most certainly does not, you crazy *****!"

Riding down South Damen Avenue near the VA Hospital just after Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated and seeing the locals go absolutely beserk and riot. They were starting fires in the city sidewalk trash containers and rolling them out onto the street in front of our car. That experience will never leave me.

A completely random event I witnessed was a guy taking a sky dump from a tree when we left the Aragon one night. I still laugh every time I think of that. LOL

Saw an old lady do a continuous cartwheel from one side of the street to the other.

Light changed, she took a couple steps out into the road, cartwheeled to the other side, gathered herself, then walked down the sidewalk as if nothing was out of the ordinary. She was old, but clearly in good shape. I can't do a cartwheel.

Everyone was completely stunned. I have no idea why she did that.

I was behind a guy getting off the El one time. I noticed he was carrying a unicycle. When he got out to the sidewalk he jumped on it and pedaled away. This was a couple of years ago and it's still the only time I ever saw someone casually riding a unicycle.
