If we live in forest park or oak park, my fiance would be traveling on the blue line to UIC...is this a safe commute? obviously during standard business hour travel time. any input on what concerns if any, thanks!

when you get on at uic it will be safe, when you get off at forest park it will be safe, but there are a few points in between where crime is more likely to occur. My suggestion is to make sure your fiance has a commuting buddy, and to not do the commute alone or other than rush hour.

This is not based on personal experience, but from what I've heard, people in Oak Park generally have no problems with safety on the Blue Line, even at odd hours. A lot of Oak Parkers commute to UIC and the Loop via the Blue Line and Green Line. If anything, I've heard of more problems about the Green Line, usually at off-peak hours.

Yep, I've a number of friends in Forest/Oak Park. I've heard of a couple robberies/muggings on the green line (all late night and when alone) but nothing on the blue line, and never during the day.
