That is not a link of the CPD saying Chinatown is not safe.

Thanks for playing.

ok, guys...thanks...

well, that looks like a "go". Really want to buy some ingredients for making Chinese food, but, will enjoy a good Sichuan restaurant if there is one.

and, to the poster that talked about roaches & vice...remember, I was actually IN China, so, not really concerned about that....

Chinatown is RIGHT off the red line, so I'd almost say it's easier to just take the subway there. Safe area yep...not that big though.

I have driven and taken the train an equal amount of times to Chinatown. Maybe I've just been lucky but I've always grabbed a place to park right away and just fed the meter.

There's also water taxi service to Chinatown on the weekends. There's a stop by Ogilvie at Washington & Wacker, and I believe it runs every half hour.

November is nothing compared to January and February. You should know that!

True, but, that is why I rarely visit any later than Nov with the possible exception of a quick Christmas jaunt!!

There is a reason that I live in the south now...Dec., Jan, Feb., & Mar!!

China town is really safe. I live there and never have had any problems. Then again I have lived on the south side most of my life so I know how to deal with people and common situations. You should be just fine. Driving is ok, on the weekends expect a bad parking situation. You can take the red line and get off at Cermak Chinatown. Then its a .5 block walk to the heart of Chinatown.

have fun!

Thanks!! Appreciate it...we'll most likely be going during the week, so, parking should not be as bad...

And, I grew up in Logan Square, so, I am fairly adept at city smarts, too!

Actually, hoping to show my son what authentic Sichuan food is like!
