I had no idea about this sticker thing.

So wait, does the sticker also double as some sort of street parking permit? Or is it literally just a completely useless sticker that costs $75?

If you park your car in the city of Chicago, you need the sticker. As you can see from the discussion, you're more prone to being ticketed if you park on the street (as most of us do.)

If you live in a zoned neighborhood, you pay for the Chicago city sticker + the zoned parking permit.

By some accounts, the sticker may be useless and cost $75. You be your own judge there.

Wow, that's really awful. Can't say I blame those who reregister their cars outside the city...

It's a tax. Simple enough to understand.

Honest people pay their taxes.

Yep. And it's not even some vague tax that's hard to wrap your head around - it's a user tax. You drive on the streets and live in Chicago, and you pay it - it's not a "parking permit."

Funny how people who would condemn the morality of children shoplifting candy at the corner store see nothing wrong with stealing when it's from the government, ie, *all of us.*

Such is the mind of a scofflaw. It's ok when I scam the system, but wrong when other people do it. Remember, when you point one finger at another you are pointing three back at yourself.

And it's not like we're forced to live in Chicago. Don't like paying for zoned permits or city stickers? Move elsewhere. You have to pay to play, you know?

While I plan on buying the sticker and feels it's dishonest to skip pay taxes, I don't see it being similar to stealing from a store. When you go in a store, you aren't forced to buy the candy. From what I've seen in Chicago, the city seems to impose a ton of fees and taxes on us without us having a lot of say in the matter. If we view the city as corrupt and inefficient, one could say not paying is an act of civil disobedience.

Again, I'm going to pay it...but I can understand other folks not wanting to.
