Asking if something the Chicago/Cook County government does is right or wrong is like asking if it's right or wrong to kill puppies.

I would expect nothing less/else if the City is serious about its bid.

Default How Can We Each Make Money Off the 2016 Olympics (if we get it)?

Yes, this is another Olympic thread.... But perhaps it will inspire ideas that can offer personal profit to us all...

To those with the entrepreneurial spirit, IF Chicago gets the 2016 Olympics, what are some ways that an average Chicagoan can (legally) make money from this huge event... Obviously there will be corporate profit made from new construction contracts, real estate values, retail spending, etc.. But what are some business ideas for the average Joe/Jane? Let's brainstorm....

Some ideas:
  • creating/selling Olympic-inspired crafts, T-shirts, jewelry, toys, etc. either online or as a street vendor
  • turning your basement into an Olympic Bed-N-Breakfast
  • offering a tour guide/driving service
  • renting out your parking space to tourists
  • offering boat, kayak, rickshaw tours
  • drawing caricatures of tourists with the Olympic backdrop
  • writing/selling Olympic/Chicago publications
  • being a roving photographer and charging tourists for pictures
  • dressing up as a stereotypical Chicago mascot (e.g. Capone, MJ) and charging for photographs
  • Creating/selling an Olympic song
Keep the ideas coming... I need to get my business plan together...

Given Chicago's reputation around the country and the world... set up body armor kiosks.

Become a real estate agent/marketeer for property in near Southside communities where the Olympics will be held at, i.e. Washington Park, Hyde Park, Bronzeville, Grand Boulevard, etc!??!!?!?
