strike while the iron is hot. The Olympics will only last 2 weeks. 2 weeks of rent might be a nice chunk, but renting your kayak or selling t shirts will be tough to recoup your investment unless you devote 100% of your time doing it.

Honestly sounds like more traffic, debt, and inconvenience than it's worth.

ok...Let's stay positively motivated so we can make some money... Traffic/inconvenience is a big issue for people... Something that tourists may pay money to avoid. I remember, in some countries, it is common for people to pay others to stand in lines for them. How about a business where tourists pay Chicagoans money to stand in long Olympic lines for them?

Oh, another idea... Olympic ticket scalping...

Or, hire out personal body guards? I know some guys at the gym who'd be great for this...

Thought of another one... Invent a new Olympic snack food (a la "Cracker Jacks")

And what about all those Olympic pins everyone collects?

find someone to sell you t-shirts that have the date, the olympic rings and the word Chicago on them for $2 each and sell them for $10 each. although 15 other dudes will be doing the same thing on each street corner. sucks being a hustler on a street full of other hustlers.

Edit- Find something that once a kid see's it, they can't live without it. lot's a kids will be in town to feel the electricity of the olympics with their jerk off parents and their souvenier buying, money spending ways. people have gotten rich selling glo-sticks to kids.

Buy those $1 plastic ponchos and cross your fingers and hope to die that it rains. you could sell those ponchos all day for $5

Yeh, thought about that... Have to find out about Olympic copyrights and come up with a cool slogan/design that will outsell the other shirts... I'd hire vendors to sell the shirts on commission (maybe out-of-work students?)

I like the way you think.... Capitalize on spoiled kids... I noticed at Six Flags last week the Glo-stick light sabers were selling like hot cakes at $20 each... An "Olympic torch glo-stick light saber" could make me rich....
