I mean, I think the fact that it's about 110 stories would take away any chance of it really being boring?

Very true.

The Sears Tower would stick out like a sore thumb if it's painted silver. What a ridiculous idea.

I said it once, and I'll say it again.

The Sears Tower is defined by its bold, masculine, monolithic exposed modernism. That who asthetic is thrown right out the fricking window with some half assed idea like this.

See, this is why we have architects, to think about these things. And its not left up to some marketing idea hatched by a management company late night in some board room over Chinese dinner as a way to "rebrand".

Luckily the odds of something like this happening are slim to none. But the fact that I even have to take time out of my day to consider the possibility infuriates me.

I don't really follow the logic. I mean, they mention energy efficiency, but don't mention how silver would actually do anything to achieve that. While I'd imagine a lighter building is a cooler building, I can't imagine that there aren't better ways to improve its energy efficiency for $50m.

It strikes me as nothing more than a rebranding attempt, and rebranding an icon would be an exercise in gilding (or silvering?) the lily.
