I just moved here this past summer and am in need of a good place to buy some tires for the winter. I live on St. Clair, anything near there? What about Cassidy's? Thanks for the help!

I'm not a big fan of buying tires at a retail store. I always buy tires from tirerack.com with the comprehensive reviews you have an idea what you are getting into and they have a warehouse in the midwest so shipping is fast. They have the best prices and you don't have to deal with shady people trying to rip you off.

I've had good experiences buying tires at Lucas Tire on Western, and Ashland Tire and Auto on Ashland. Ashland is also a good repair shop as well.

I was very skeptical until I tried 'em. Their warehouse is in South Bend IN. Tires arrive in about a day or two. UPS shipping is very low as they are same region. You then simply call up a WalMart that has an autocenter, pay a very clear and reasonable price to have 'em mounted and balanced and you have no hassles with the slimly business practices of the notorious tire sales people...
Tirerack has a very fair "road hazard warranty" policy, best prices and selection of any dealer.
If you want to go someplace and get tires "one stop" next best is Sam's Club or Costco, though their selection is much more limited.

I currently have 17 in. low profile tires on a scion xb. But i'm going to look for something a little better in the snow, my wife is usually the one driving it.

I would also check prices at Costco. I got my tires from Cassidys and they would have been about half the price if I got them at Costco

DO NOT buy a spare set of 17" snow or all season tires. Instead, purchase a spare set of steelies at 15" with snow tires as long as they clear your brakes. 15" snow tires can run you about $75 each, and the price goes up from there.
