Hey everyone,

So I'm a first year student at DePaul and have yet to actually get my haircut here! Anyway, I'm looking for a good place, preferably near the L, not too expensive, that can give me a nice cut. Oh! And I'm a white guy. Thanks!

You should probably tell us what you mean by "not too expensive."

There's a place in the basement of Chase Tower downtown at Dearborn and Madison that's pretty good. Otero's I think.

I get my haircut by a serbian guy in Lincoln Square. I think it's $15 + tip.

I've been getting mine cut at a barber shop on Huron, just east of State Street, which is about a 3 minute walk south of the Chicago Red Line station. It's old school. Ron in the name of the barber and he's been there like 40 years. He charges $25 and I usually tip $5 for $30 total. Shop's called Medinah Barber Shop.

Here's my partner getting trimmed by Ron:

State St. Barbers on Webster near Clifton. Really close to DePaul. Generally you will pay less at a barber than a hairstylist or salon. Some people also go to cheap places like Great Clips or Supercuts to save money. I do that myself when I need a small trim as my hairdresser charges too much so I only go to her a few times a year.

I go to a Hair Cuttery near my apartment (they're all over the city though). I keep a pretty simple haircut (required for job) so I don't need anything fancy, but I've seen them do good jobs with people who do have 'trendy' styles. They do a great job with mine, and I'm at the point where I guess I'm a regular. I don't have to tell them what I want anymore when I show up, at least.

Anyway, my cut and shampoo is $25 which includes my tip.

Another note, I do like styled hair. Quiffs and what not.
