There is not real gentrification occuring in Lawndale. There may be some rehabbed places or new-construction low-income housing, but it does not represent substantial change in the neighborhood.

Default no good streets in lawndale

There are no good streets or areas in lawndale. In spite of new construction efforts, it is not a safe area. Those who live in the new housing have gates and walls to protect the from their ghetto neighbors. I would never live in an area where I am a prisoner in my home and cannot walk the streets without fear of being robbed or killed. Humboldt Park (north of grand) has its issues but I as a white person and am able to safely walk my neighborhood streets (though I do keep my eyes and ears open).

Lawndale is not gentrified or has no signs of it... and I hope it never gentrifies, it's the one neighborhood in Chicago not completely full of yuppies or hipsters or neat little ***** coffee shops. Lawndale: stay real.

What about the area off of Taylor in Lawndale? Like closer to Taylor and Western? I thought that area was pretty up and coming with new condos and such...
