Default Help, should I move to Lawndale

Hi,
I'm a white man in his 30's, and am thinking of moving to rental property very close to Western and Roosavelt. It's maybe a few blocks on the Lawndale side. Is this a safe place for me to move to since it's so close to the UIC village to the east and pilsen to the south. Is this a safe place to live both when I walk on the street, and safe for my belongings in my house? Is it safe so close to Western and Roosevelt, or is it not safe anywhere in Lawndale?
Thanks

Not safe, especially west of Western. You need to get north of kinzie before it is safe.

East of Western is Tri Taylor neighborhood, which is relatively safe. West of Western gets dicey quickly, especially the further west you travel.

Little Village has some of the best authentic Mexican food in Chicago. Home Run Inn Pizza is pretty good, although it gets a pretty ghetto crowd on weekends.

Default Home Run Inn Pizza

Home Run Inn Pizza is great but that is at 31st and Kostner (4400W), not real close to Roosevelt (1200S) and Western (2400W). It is pretty ghetto and loud with regards to many of the people who eat there. For a better overall dining experience, go to one of their suburban locations, though the food is great.

Southsidehitman,

That area is not great. Even Dominicks could not make it. They replaced it with some grocery store I have never heard of. They spent alot of money of the strip center on Roosevelt and it is not doing all that hot, which is a function of the overall neighborhood, which has declined significantly since Sears left. I have a couple of customers over there and they hate the area, cannot sell their industrial buildings without taking huge losses.
