It doesn't sound as bad if I figure we're spending $400 a month on gas to drive everywhere where we live now, compared to $180 on two unlimited passes, but still. That made me cringe a little.

I was planning on getting a Chicago Card, and I only WISH I fit into that category of "more affluent and able to absorb increases."

Get yourself a nice commuter bike. I have 2 excellent ones that save me gas, CTA Fare, meter fees, valet parking, atc. I can grocery heavy using a Burley Nomad.

Well suprise the more you raise sales taxes the less people buy in that tax district. Thus people buy less and/or buy in lessor taxing districts.
