united center area wasn't good but now I am hearing it's better? I have a child so want to make sure it's pretty good. MY alternate is Logan Square.

I wouldn't consider United Center west loop. Exactly where are you looking? I personally, would not choose to live near the United Center with a child. However, the area around there is significantly better than it used to be.

I live at the edge of Greektown and West Loop Gate and the area has many adults with carriages around strolling every day and a lot of people walking their dogs, It's a pretty safe area i think.

I actually would not live in many parts of Logan Square or The United Center area with a child. But that is just me.

The United Center is definitely NOT the "West Loop". Stay east of Ashland, and you'll be fine in terms of safety. It's not the most "kid friendly" neighborhood in the city, but it's definitely not a war zone.
