And in an age where the price of everything is being driven up, unions will receive my boot to face. Screw them and their high prices.

I blame unions too. Why should they be expecting to earn 100grand for being construction workers?
Because that it what you have to pay to get men willing to bolt together and weld steel beams 30 stories up in the air and have them do it to a high standard.

That is what you have to pay welders who make perfect welds so the steam pipes don't blow up at the power plant.

The list could go on and on...

Why would you begrudge the men (and women) who build our infrastructure the ability to make at least 100k a year?

You've just lost all credibility with me. I work at an institution where many of the senior level staff live in on the south-side, and there are hundreds of places around the city just like mine. Who exactly do you think are living in those Beverly mansions, Hyde Park, Kenwood, the revitalizing Bronzeville, the Bungalows over by Midway? Huh?

Add the thousands of new condos in the South Loop to that list...

What about risk - reward?

Some of us choose not to risk our lives and instead get an education that will allow us some kind of white collar job where we can earn according to our abilities and training.

But for those training in trades, high risk = high reward.

they are in the underworld, they deal with money, they just arent taxed on it.
your saying prohibition era al capone wasnt affected by the economy?
think about what you said.

more people are poor, so more people steal, cause they dont have jobs or morals, so they steal. if economy was good, then they would ave jobs, so they wouldnt steal, not as much at least.
the examples are endless, just think about it for a second. or google it.
etc.. etc...
I was talking to a police officer on the south side who was saying the exact same thing. Gas, food, its demanding more than low-income people have. And that sends petty criminals up the ladder to stealing old ladies' SS checks.

Because they do not need to make that much. People with much more education and experience make far less. And because of how much they get paid, the price to buy a home in the area is more expensive as well. Of course, including ridiculous property taxes, and the cost of property itself, this also drives the price of homes up. But the ****ty quality of homes in Chicago and the suburbs (hardly any made out of brick) and the ridiculous price tells me that someone somewhere is getting overpaid.

If you want to look at crime statistics, I'd kill just to make a buck here too. You'll need far more than that though to afford to live here anymore.
