Hmmm, I'm looking at a youtube video on Chicago Parks. My original understanding (from my studies) was that Norwood Park and Humboldt Park's swimming pools were the only ones with water slides in their swimming pools.

So MAYBE what I had originally read was Norwood Park was the only park on the NORTH side with a swimming pool slide.... I KNOW, Humboldt Park is technically on the north side; but I mean north, NORTH side.

Anyways, the video (and some further pictures in my google search) shows that Palmer Park has a swimming pool slide. And then I looked at the address, E. 111th Street! I would definitely include this park for when I take my south, south, south journey!

Chicagoisthebest, ahhhhhhh. Good ol' Norwood Park!

When my friend/co-worker from Milwaukee first moved to Chicago, she got an apartment on Northwest Highway, in Norwood Park, near the Metra stop and the Norwood Restaurant.

She would let me and my kids stay there may times when we were in town, so we did not have to pay for a hotel. I loved that neighborhood.

I'm a huge fan of the Norwood Park park. At first, as out of towners, the park let us use their pool for free. After a couple years, they changed their rules and started charging a fee for non-residents, and so our Norwood Park swimming pool days ended.... I'm not sure if this will change in 2021, or not. But if I have to pay a fee to swim, I would just go to nearby Whealan Swimming pool.

Most of Baers videos can be accessed on the WTTW website.

The part ChicagoMeO mentions is at approx the 51 minute mark.

I grew up at Foster/Austin and we would walk to Norwood to go swimming. Of course when walking across the Taft property we, as little kids, thought it was a huge school and thought, how we are we going to navigate it?

Almost bought a home in old Norwood Park years later. I still kick myself today for not doing so!

BOBNCHI, thank you for sending that link!

And I, too, am upset that you didn't get a home in the Old Norwood Park area. That area is beautiful!!!

I do like the development with the parks along the river, in particular what they have been doing by River Park.
