There wasnt a shooting at UIC. Somone said they 'heard' a gunshot but they never found anything. The UIC campus and the UC are different neighborhoods.

I can't imagine, and have never heard, of this being an issue during events, when there are cops on the corners directing traffic and thousands of people exiting/entering the stadium.

The UC, like Comiskey, is completely segregated from the surrounding neighborhood by acres of parking, for better or worse. You really have to try to wander off beyond that, particularly west of Damen. There's just no reason to do so.

during events, it probably isn't a problem. i'm just talking about where my friends lived and my experiences at 3 or 4 in the morning. they lived about 4 blocks east of the U.C.

There's nothing generally the same about the areas. Theyhjust appen to be near each other but they're totally different nonetheless.

On the subject of the Bulls/United Center, the Bulls just lost a heartbreaker to the Heat. D-Wade made a clutch 3-pointer to send the game to overtime, then another one to win the game at the end of the 2nd overtime period. This is a tough loss, our boys played great and had one of the league's better teams on the ropes for most of the game.

Wade v. Rose

Chicago Product v. Chicago Product

Win-Win

Like others stated, the area is sketchy, but basically okay. Similar to Logan Square or parts of South Loop. If you drive in from the Loop or the Eisenhower expy, park in the lots by UC, you should be ok. I think that some of the lots will rip you off more than the shady dudes, but that's another story.

and if it is a nice day, you're bound to get someone trying to sell you socks or something at the stop lights.
