A group of us are coming to Chicago in May, for three nights. We have a friend who lives in the suburbs (Huntley) that we'll be staying with. We're tossing around the idea of maybe staying downtown for a night or two, but none of us are familiar with the area.

I'm looking for fun ideas for a group of 6 ladies (early 30's). I'd also love to hear any suggestions on where to stay in the city.

Are Oprah tickets impossible to get? What about Jerry Springer?

Anyone?

Thanks!

Springer ticks are easy, oprah can take up to a year. A lot of museums are havin free days lately so check that out. Magnificent mile and downtown are great for shopping. Lots of great bars in north side easily accessible by the L.

And don't worry bout avengerfire. He's a good guy just too many hormones.

Check Oprah's website. Often there are last minute reservations available during filming season. Worked for me. Definitely stay downtown for at least a night or two! Have a great dinner and go see some live music.

Huntley is more of an exurb. It's way out there. At least an hour outside of the city in good traffic. Stay downtown a night or two. You can often find good deals on the weekend on hotels.com or hotwire or priceline. The hotel prices are often higher during the week because of all the business travelers.

The restaurants here are killer, and there's plenty to do. See the mainstage show at Second City. Take in some live music (tons of places for that). If you let the forum know what kind of food and music you like, we can probably make recommendations. Or just let us know what else you like in general!

BTW, I've heard Springer is way easier to get tickets to than Oprah.

Thanks for all the replies - keep the ideas coming!

What about fun bars and restaurants. Can you tell me some specific names of places we have to go while we're there? I'm sure you guys have some really cool bars, no?
