This past election is the slow downfall of the democratic party.. They are currently leaderless and their campaign of "self identity issues" doesn't work anymore with the average american. The average working American wants a job, reduction in illegals and security. They don't care about self identity issues that have been dealt with already. I predict a slow downfall of democrats unless they change their party platform. You can turn on the news and see this happening all over the country...

That's what people said about the Republican Party after the 2008 election. This is normal, ebbs and flows. If the Republicans ********** up in any way over the next few years (i.e. major military conflict, economic recession, etc.) you will see a wild swing back in the other direction. Despite having a highly flawed presidential candidate, Clinton still garnered more votes than Trump. Neither party is going away any time soon and that's a good thing. Never good to have one party in complete control (Kansas under Brownback; Illinois pre-Rauner).

Ald. Walter Burnett (27th) said Trump's vow to "immediately" deport up to 3 million immigrants who are "criminal and have criminal records," citing "gang members, drug dealers" would tear a hole in the "fabric of our community."

If this happens, it could bring this city to a halt," Burnett said.

It would tear a hole in our open air drug market on the West Side and bring that to a halt anyway. I don't know what else deporting criminal illegal immigrants would bring to a halt.

Yes, folks, these are our elected officials. You'd think this was an Onion article if you didn't know Chicago. Keep voting Democrat!

What? Vice Lords are not immigrants.

How do Vice Lords receive their supplies? If somebody has a criminal record and they are ilegally here, they should be deported. Immediately. The fact that our alderman are saying that to deport criminals would tear a hole in our "fabric" is very disturbing and shows remarkable arrogance.

Ah, so it's the cartel that's going to be deported. But that battle isn't going to start, it's been ongoing for as long.

You're the pro on this. But I cannot imagine that criminal illegal aliens are not involved in drug trafficking from and through Mexico to Chicago, for distribution to our gangs, who have killed over 600 people this year alone. That defies common sense.

Yea, but my point was these people were already in the to-be-deported list, so Trump won't add anything new. Unless there were people with the cartel with no criminal history, I think those were always going to be deported too.

But who cares? If the point was to get the most popular votes, the candidates would campaign differently. Think about it, why stop in small states for very few people if the point is to get as many votes as possible? That would be a terrible strategy. Campaigns would only happen in major urban centers and places like Iowa and New Hampshire would be neglected. Just something to think about. Popular vote isn't the objective.
