Which is why I said earlier in this thread that suggesting that 'South Andersonville' extended south to Wilson was patently ridiculous. Criminal, even.

I wonder how many people realize that the western border of the Uptown Community Area is actually Ravenswood Avenue when you are north of Montrose... A lot of people who think they live in Lincoln Square and Andersonville are actually in Uptown. Or at least the official Uptown Community Area. The neighborhood maps usually put the western border at Clark Street.

Those far western parts of Uptown are quite nice and peaceful, by the way. More proof that the people who say "Uptown is ghetto" aren't familiar with the entire neighborhood. Uptown is a complicated neighborhood that requires a nuanced view to truly comprehend it.

You mean people that live in Ravenswood or Andersonville that think the live in the Lincoln Square "community area", but live in the Uptown "community area."

When I lived by Paulina and Wilson I always told people I lived in the Raveswood portion of Uptown.

I wonder if there is more confusion with that community area. Nobody in North Mayfair or Mayfair really says they live in the Albany Park CA (which they do) Maybe because the names of Ravenswood and Lincoln Square are more prestigious than Uptown? Heck, I wouldn't really be ashamed...well, unless I was paying crazy high rent. Oh, and I bet you wouldn't have many Ravenswood Manor folks associating themselves with Albany Park

Neighborhood boundaries change. Community areas do not (i.e., it's still Uptown CA).
While I understand where you are coming from, why not just call it a really nice part of Uptown? People do it for Buena Park and Margate Park. I mean, Andersonville Terrace sounds incredibly tacky, and I doubt many of the residents actually call it that (unless they were told by a realtor).

I hate the community area crap. I should only be used for academic purposes (which they were designed for.)

When I was growing up we always associated Mayfair and North Mayfair more closely with Portage Park and Jefferson Park...

Albany Park was like a different planet.

So does it really matter if someone says they live in Andersonville Terrace or West Bucktown?

Even with the Kennedy cutting N. Mayfair and Mayfair off from Portage Park and Jefferson Park? I'm not trying to further fan the flames of boundaries in this thread; I'm honestly wondering.

A) Well West Bucktown does not exist. Unless one is talking about the western portion of the Bucktown neighborhood (which is east of Western!)

B)Yeah. The neighborhoods existed before the Kennedy did.

Btw- Irving Park and Old Irving Park get split by the expressway. Nobody calls them different areas because of it.
