Anyone have any information/experience about living in the Uptown area? Specifically on Sunnyside between Sheridan and Clarendon. I've been researching the area and keep finding it described as "up-and-coming" but want information on what that means in real terms, mainly as in safety for a 20-something single female. Thanks!

I used to live at Wilson and Sheridan, a few blocks away. The area has and is changing a lot. They are building condos everywhere. I lived in the area for about tens years, until last year, while I was in school and when I first got married. It is a colorful place to live. There are few homeless shelters in the area, and few crazy people that are harmless. One guy walked around dress like Michael Jackson and another liked dressing like A pirate, everyday. I came home from work at all hours of the night and never had anything happen. The biggest pain for me was the homeless people asking for money but you find them mostly on wislon ave. Many people buy or rent in this area because it's still cheap, close to public transportation, close to wrigley, and just a hop on the drive to get to downtown. You will a jewel, aldi's, and train all with in five blocks of where you live. Most of the time theres no one on the street when I came home late.

Vanitykitten, not trying to burst your bubble, but the original post is over two years old! Don't forget to check post dates.

I regularly see someone dressed as the Statue of Liberty at Wilson and Broadway.

^^Google. It's how the vast majority of people come to this site. Hell who knows, I probably did the same thing when I was new; I really don't even remember how I got here, I just know that I've never left :P
