What exactly are you looking for pricewise?

Me either

I don't particularly like most of Lawrence in the immediate area during the late night hours, but during the day and early evening, it's fine.

Lawrence and California is still a bit of a hotspot for L.K.'s. If someone wanted to live in Lincoln Square, I'd start at Rockwell and head east. That's for me anyways.

If anyone is indeed interested in Albany Park, I've been doing the CAPS meetings. Crime is actually down this year (so far, lol). It's frustrting to know we've got all these nice condos just sitting around. If they filled up with some decent people, they'd stabilize the neighborhood a lot more. It's not the wild west now, but weird stuff happens from time to time.

$1200 for 2 bed, maybe up to $1300 if heat included.

I don't think that should be to difficult to find.

Albany Park can be quite nice in the "Ravenswood Manor" area, and further north in Mayfair. The housing just west of the Manor has improved a lot, almost all the way west to Kedzie. I think this is actually a very kid-friendly area to live.

This is very true; I think being next to the Manor has something to do with that. I've noticed that the block between Montrose and Lawrence east of Kedzie is pretty seamless in trasition to the Manor. And I'm not saying this because I live here.

There are still some rough lots on each street (Leland, Eastwood, Wilson, Sunnyside) heading east to Sacramento, but there are a lot of beauties as well.

It's not like they'll do anything though. They're lame.
Don't let that deter you.

One thing that is great about Lincoln Square is the number of street fests in the Square itself and next door in North Center. Good people watching and mingling.

Agree, LS is a great neighborhood. Great parks, great bars/rests along Lincoln and in some other spots. Also getting an LPAC (LSAC?) soon at about 4650 N Lincoln. Gene's Sausage shop has quickly become a neighborhood staple and the Thursday night summer concerts/farmers market with beer/brats etc should not be missed. The worst part about LS is that if you got due east, you have to go through Uptown to get to the lake, but I've never seen the Uptown element in LS other than a homeless person wandering around now and then which you see in every neighborhood in Chicago at some time. Schulter does a good job as an alderman for LS.
