That means getting to your weekend city around 9 and having to leave for airport on Sunday at 3pm. I find it hard to believe any company will handle airfare and hotel in Omaha every week-- but maybe you're good!

Personally, I would suggest just the opposite - live in Omaha and take advantage of last minute fares and fly to a different city every weekend. That way you can experience Seattle, LA, San Diego, Vail, Aspen, Snowmass, Park City, LAS VEGAS, Santa Fe, Phoenix, Dallas, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, DAYTONA, Hilton Head, Boston, Vermont, etc.
I would agree with this.

I'll be up in da UP and northern lower Michigan in 4 days for a week. I wouldn't take someone there for the first time in winter, especially if they don't ski. However, it's nice to go both in winter and summer (which, being stuck indefinitely in midstate Illinois, is as much as I can do). Summers: crowded, buggy; Winters: empty, cold. Gas prices high year-round, and you always gotta watch out for deer.

Anywhere around Lake Michigan, outside of Gary, Muskegon, Waukegan, etc is nice in summer. Anyone have a preference: July or August?

Windy City John said, "You can name your location at $2000/month in Chicago". John, I have to disagree. It takes more like $2,500 to 'name your location' in Chicago. $2,000 seems to be the going rate for the majority of popular places in Chicago. If you want your top 10 pick, you need to spend more like $2,500. This is all too unfortunate, because when I was living in Chicago in the late 90's, one could 'name your location' for a mere $1,750.

Huh? You can live in ANY neighborhood in the city in a very nice 1 bedroom, or a less nice 2 bedroom for $2000. Name an area where you can't!

Yeah,

The Midwest is known for its beaches. That's why people flock to those locations more than Florida and California for some summer fun. LOL. You can't compare a cold ass lake to the Atlantic or Pacific Oceans!

Must be all the people who don't flock to Florida beaches in the summer!

Yes, because popular equals better I have a feeling you have never experienced the beaches and dunes of the UP, and thats fine with me. In fact, stay away! You and your friends can all go to Daytona and whoop it up! All the better.

Meanwhile, us Midwesterners will keep the "3rd coast" to ourselves, thank you very much!

I'm not saying that it doesn't look nice because it does. It's a hidden jewel because most people would never imagine beaches in the Midwest. I've been to Chicago plenty of times and have seen the beaches. But it's just not the same as South Florida. That's not a knock either.

Well, the area I'm talking about is around 300 miles north of Chicago.
