Free parking, in the city of Chicago, is virtually non-existent now. Particularly so on the North Side of the city. For the location at Rush & Superior there is some metered parking, but it's tough to find an available space. There are (for a fee) two or three parking garages across the street or within 1 block.

The one in Hyde Park generally has good parking availability, and though it is street parking, you can generally leave your hazard lights, grab your order quickly, and get back to your car without any issues. It's on 53rd and Kimbark? Not exactly sure as I moved out of Chicago, but you should be able to find it online.

There's one on Milwaukee just north of Diversey with a parking lot.

Or, he can just go to one of the north side locations he was asking about that has a parking lot.

I'm always amazed at all of the crowds lined up outside the Mag Mile Giordano's, when there is basically the same thing offered at third-tier strip malls all over the city and suburbs with no wait.

Some businesses just do a better job of marketing/image creation than others. I, too, am amused to see the line-up of people waiting to get into the Giordano's located at Rush & Superior. Especially so when Geno's East, the location about a block east on Superior, has substantially less wait time. Both are comparable deep dish pies sought-out by the out-of-town tourists.

I guess it's more or less the same to tourists, but you really can't get much different within the "Chicago pizza primarily for tourists" genre. Gino's is deep-dish while Giordano's is stuffed. The latter is much thicker, uses much more cheese, and uses a more savory sauce. (Gino's sauce is kinda bland IMO). I still prefer Gino's though.

Gino's East is considerably better than Giordano's IMO.

And it's even more noticeable since the bankruptcy - I used to get their stuffed pizza at least twice a month because I could just walk to pick it up (delivery and tip adds 25%+ to the cost), but almost immediately after the news stories hit on their financial problems Giordano's raised prices and skimped on ingredients.

I went to the one in Lincoln Square. There was a lot and the restaurant was almost empty, no wait. The pizza sucked, BTW.
