If a neighborhood has a lot of sports bars, it get's labeled a "frat boy" enclave.
If a neighborhood has a lot of high-end retail, it gets labeled a "yuppie" enclave.
If a neighborhood has any history of artists living there within the last two decades, it gets labeled a "hipster" enclave.

We all know that the reality on the ground is much more complex than this, and that nearly all north side neighborhoods have a pretty diverse mix of people, even if they are white people.

Look at the last map. I think it's telling how the cluster follows the red, blue and brown lines.

There's some. But, everyone knows that just like when Colmbus sailed to the edge of the earth, once you go past the south loop/bronzeville or University Village/Pilsen/Bridgeport that the end of the world.

Hipsters are OK, they're often people who were raised to be middle class and ended up working class, in that class but not OF that class, and so in their understandable confusion started their own scene to fit into. The first generation of Americans to not live as materially well as the one before, that will have results, indeed, this hipster thing may be seen as the most benign one before it's over.
