People always claim that the East Coast has more attractions than any other area, and they may be right, but the Midwest, with Chicago as its centering base, has plenty to see and do within a 6-8 hour radius...

Indy has the original Love Sculpture by Robert Indiana.
Plus Monument Circle has some nice romantic restaurants and hotels ringing it including the Columbia club. Then the highest end and best steak you'll ever have at St Elmo's by Circle Center on Illinois street. Personally I think that steak is worth the 40-50$ and the restaurant is very clean and heck even a couple celebrities drop by from time to time.

Funny you would mention Hot Springs. That was the big disagreement around here. Mrs. IRV really wants to go to Oaklawn. It's just too damn far..Lexington is a 6 or 7 hour drive. Hot Springs is moving on to 9 or 10 hour drive.

Last time I went to Indianapolis I visited the Indy 500 museum inside the racetrack. Then I went to Waffle House and the shopping malls.

Sounds like good ol' Midwestern culture right there. Next time you should head further south to see this American landmark:

I was thinking more along the lines of Flagstaff, LA, San Diego, Las Vegas, Rocky Point Mexico. No really, your list is great - let me add Gary, IN to the list of fascinating destinations.

Gary sounds like a boring town, the only thing I know about it was the Michael Jackson came from there.
