Does any one have any statistics or numbers of how many actual Ukrainians
(including those who came after WWII, first generation and new
immigrants) live in Ukrainian Village?

I don't have any numbers, but according to a Ukrainian-American acquaintance, the "new" Ukrainian Village is actually the eastern edge of Humboldt Park. Fresh immigrants from Ukraine who can't afford the original Ukrainian Village anymore have been moving across Western.

I am really curious. Can you ask your Ukrainian friend what he/ she thinks. Would your friend also
know when or if Ann's Bakery will open?

The 10,000 # is from Wikipedia. Oddly I read it this weekend when reading about something else. It may not be exactly right but it is probably about right.

How ironic. It's been a Ukrainian neighborhood for at least 50 years and I would have to
guess that less than 500 live there (there are Polish who also lived nearby and still do).
I guess it's gentrification. I wonder how long it will take before it resembles Wicker Park.
