Way too much money. And, I'm fairly certain that a dog, fries and drink will run you close to 8 bucks. It's probably been at least a year and a half since I've been there.

Here ya go! A weiner for a whiner. Who said get a drink? Get a water.

Superdawgâ„¢ $5.50
Not a wiener - not a frankfurter - not a red hot - but our exclusive... Superdawgâ„¢. On a poppy seed bun, we tenderly place the loveliest, juiciest creation of pure beef hot dog (no pork, no veal, no cereal, no filler), formally dressed with all the trimmings, escorted by our often imitated, but never equaled, Superfriesâ„¢. Served with all the trimmings - golden mustard, tangy piccalilli, kosher dill pickle, chopped Spanish onions and a memorable hot pepper.

Forget the money, and think of your health - soda pop is now HFCS-laden garbage.

Getting a drink is completely unnecessary, as is buying bottles of water while you're out. Anyone looking to save money on food can go pretty far by skipping these silly extras. If you're actually thirsty, tap water will serve you well.

It seems that some people don't consider something to be a full meal unless they get at least 1,000 calories, even at the $5 level.

For me, anything under 1,000 calories is just a snack, not a meal.

It might be more realistic to offer suggestions about meals that are less than $10, rather than $5. I haven't been to McDonald's for quite a while, but I suspect that you'd have trouble getting a meal (burger, fries, drink) for less than $5...

I think that's it's also hard to be content with just one slice of pizza, unless you just want a "snack" and not an actual meal..

McD has a "value menu" with many items at or close to a dollar. I routinely order a double cheeseburger ($1.25) and a small fries ($1), with a cup of water. A meal for under 3 bucks. And I'm not broke or cheap, sometimes I just don't want a thousand-calorie meal.

Good to know that you could do this at McDonald's, even when ordering a soda; I'm pretty sure that you couldn't do this at Wendy's, though; higher class of hamburger, or something...

Actually, Wendy's has a value menu too.
