Hello Friends,

I have been trying to locate and find an apartment near Willis Tower.

My budget is $1200. I am ready to stay away from office but not getting any apartment.
Currently I am staying in Congress Plaza hotel and booking is only till 3rd of July.
Can you please help me?

Thanks.

ravi

We have tried before. Each area has its own range of prices rent is going for. $1200 will probably not be enough for the South Loop, West Loop, Loop, or River North (maybe you can get lucky in a few places) for even a studio apartment. You aren't going to find anything or much of anything. You could find things in the Gold Coast, or I would broaden your search to there or Old Town, Lincoln Park, Lakeview, etc. You would have no problem finding that.

I was like you when I moved here. I wanted something close to work, and yeah I could afford it, but I listened when multiple people gave me the same advice. This is a big city with very good public transit that doesn't take forever to use. This isn't 40 years ago where it was best to live right next door to work.

So my advice to you is to look in Lincoln Park. There is a Brown Line stop a *BLOCK* from Willis Tower (Quincy Stop). If you lived near one in Lincoln Park for example, it would take you 10-12 minutes to get to work. I hope you listen to this advice

Alternately, you could live in the UIC area along Taylor Street between Halsted and Ashland for a relatively short commute via bus and a quieter area but yeah, $1,200 can get you a small 1-bedroom in Lincoln Park with a decent commute. It might even get you a small 2-bedroom in Ravenswood or Albany Park, although at the cost of a relatively longer commute.

I would skip looking for an apartment downtown on that budget. Look at places along the red or brown line and commute a little longer. You'll have much better luck finding an apartment in that price range.

Better yet look along the Orange or Pink line and get a nice apartment for that price and a short commute.

The best way is to stop looking in an area that is predominantly office space. If you are unwilling to live further away you are going to have to extend that booking you've got currently.
