Recycle Guest Parking Passes (Chicago: live, authority, permit)

One of my friends from when I lived in Memphis told me that when he lived in Chicago, He used to make guest passes for parking permit only streets last forever. He eventually bought a city/parking permit sticker but the first couple of months he really stretched the guest passes out as long as possible.
For example, lets say he used the first one on June 1st. Then the same sticker became June 10th and then June 18th and then finally June 28th.

I wonder if they ( the parking authority ) is suppose to scan the window stickers or if they are serial numbered. Or if they are just looking at the dates printed.

Any ideas how that work. Thanks.

I too have employed that tactic a few times and never had a problem. Emphasis on few. I don't know how long one could get away with it.

how about erasable pen? I have known numerous people that have done this. Just please, dont do it on my block
