Hello,

I've got a trip coming up to Chicago pretty soon and want to pick up a 7 day CTA pass. I know you can order them online, but it says it will take 10 business days so that does not allow me enough time. I'll be staying near Michigan Avenue and primarily using the Red Line Chicago/State station. Does anyone happen to know anywhere I can pick up one of these passes within this area?

Thanks in advance!

Generally, I always buy them at currency exchanges. There is a currency exchange on Chicago Ave. about three blocks west of Michigan Ave.

You said in a different thread that both you and your wife will be in town. You probably already know this, but just to clarify, you will each need to get one. You should also know that CTA passes are not good on Metra trains (you said you planned to hop on the Metra out to the zoo) -- Metra and CTA are two different systems

Thank you, I appreciate the clarification. That was how I thought it worked, but it is always helpful to be sure ahead of time. It looks like I can purchase Metra tickets online; would this be the simplest way to transfer from the blue line over to the Metra?

You'll be able to get Metra tickets at the station. If the ticket booth at the station is closed, you can buy tickets from the conductor on the train. You can technically do that at all times, but if you get on the train at a station with an open ticket booth, there's a $3 per ticket surcharge for buying a ticket on the train instead of at the booth.

Here is the CTA list of places to buy passes:

CTA

The cultural center at Michigan Ave. & Randolph St. might be your best bet.

That is just what I was looking for. I looked on the CTA web site and could not find it myself. I will be primarily using the Chicago Red Line station so that is perfect that I can buy a pass there. That will really be a time saver, thank you.
