Had an electric one once and ended up going with a petrol powered one. I couldn't get the electric to make it through the heavy wet stuff. I was always afraid of getting electrocuted in the slushy stuff, too. They may be better now, however.

if you have the cash I'd say go ahead... you don't use it that often but when you do its nice to have.

they are maybe slightly better now depending on what brand you buy, but I'd go for gas powered any day

Snowblowers have improved. You may find a gas model with an electric start now.

I got their electric lawn mower this year & it's so much nicer to work with than the old gas-powered one. no fumes, no running out of gas when you most need it, etc.
