They're switching to all-news format in about 3 days. That leaves XRT as the lone non-suck music station around here save the odd college station that you can occasionally pick up here and there in parts of town.

Q101 has sucked for over ten years. They have basically only been a "classic alternative rock" version of the Loop since the 90's.

I am blown away for what a large market Chicago is what a radio suckhole it really is. Q101 and the Loop is about all I listen too. I'll have to try XRT a bit more, my wife listens and likes. Stupid Q101 has been playing the best music in this last week. A ton of old Metallica and other good heavy metal. Not the constant rinse and repeat of RHCP, My Chemical Romance and other bad music which helped in their demise I'm sure. Also I better be able to listen to Love Line somewhere. Me and the majority of my shift listen to it. Now what am I supposed to listen to when en route to a fight or other hot call to get my motivation up? Lol.

As someone who used to like Q101 that is sad to hear. That being said they have sucked for a while now like some one above mentioned. It's like one day they just stopped changing their lineup.

I haven't listened to radio period in years and FM radio in even longer. Having the same top 40 songs from maybe 4 genres repeated all day every day was awful, I have little interest in being told what to like.

Nobody likes 97.1 The Drive? Granted, it is more classic rock than contemporary, but they don't suck.

It's fine but they play songs that A-i've heard a million times and B-already have either on CD or mp3 if I want to listen to them.

Q101 was Meh for a long time. Was more disappointed with Jack-FM's format change; although it did seem to result in the Loop adjusting their format, playing much better music instead of relying on primarily heavy metal. The Drive is decent, but they need to go deeper into their playlists.

XRT is the only station worth listening to, with the exception of WBEZ.
