I've never considered there to be a real crime problem on Chicago's trains themselves...stuff happens but there never was a real problem.

Everyone I know dreads winter, but I look forward to it for this very fact. Crime being a problem is always somewhat subjective to ones comfort level. I grew up in a place where there was never a worry of crime, and I don't mean the "keep your street smarts and you'll be fine" type of safe area... I'm talking about walking around with your i-pod blasting while drunk at 2am with few people around and NOTHING will happen to you, type of city (yes, there are such cities in the world). The city needs to solve it's problem with poverty, drug and gangs (which all go hand in hand). It needs to educate the less educated about encouraging education and positive work ethics. Until then, we will just have to deal with the crap in Chicago.
