An employee of Butch McGuire’s pub testified today that a cab driver sexually fondled her while giving her a ride home from the popular Gold Coast business last month.

Mohammad Assasfa, 28, was charged with one count of criminal sexual abuse by force and is free on $25,000 bond, records show.

The 25-year-old woman testified during a preliminary hearing that she hailed Assasfa’s American United cab about 1:15 a.m. on Dec. 24 outside Butch McGuire’s at 20 W. Division St. She had worked until 7 p.m. the previous night, then gone out to dinner with a friend and returned to Butch McGuire’s to have drinks, she said.

The woman testified she got into the front passenger seat of Assasfa’s cab and asked him to take her to the Southwest Side.

About five minutes into the cab ride, while on the expressway, Assasfa told her she was “very attractive” and started stroking her hair, the woman testified. After she brushed his hand away, he reached into her open coat and grabbed her breast. She said he also forced her hand onto his crotch several times.

“I kept saying, ‘Please, don’t do that. No, please stop,’ ” she told Judge Adam Bourgeois Jr.

The woman said Assasfa wanted to pull the cab over and “stop the meter” but she refused. He eventually dropped her off at her destination.

“I threw a 20 [dollar bill] at him and ran into the house,” the woman said.

A friend who lived in the home went outside and flagged down police, who arrested Assasfa near 16th Street and Kedzie Avenue, records show.

Muhammed, of the 4000 block of West Lawrence Avenue, appeared in court Friday but did not speak.
